Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
A massive congratulations to our Year 3 and 4 Boccia Champions who brought home the gold medal last Friday from our locality sporting competition. We are always incredibly proud of how our children represent the school in our sports events. They show great sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience – and most importantly enjoy taking part. Well done to the Boccia team and all the children who have had the opportunity to represent West Meadows so far this year!
We would like to wish all of our Year 6 pupils good luck for next week’s assessments. They have worked incredibly hard throughout this year and have been fantastic role models for all of our children in school. I would like to encourage them to switch off this weekend, don’t worry, have fun and do no revision. We know they will all do their best next week as they have done throughout the year. We will be providing them with a breakfast each morning next week to give them chance to relax together each morning. Best of luck, Year 6 - we are always so proud of you.
Today we launched our new reading challenge, ‘The Greatest Reader’ (inspired by ‘The Greatest Showman’) across school with a circus themed extravaganza organised by Mr Mitchell! Children can earn points by reading at home regularly and having their reading record signed or for entering our extreme reading challenge. There will be weekly certificates and prizes at the end of the challenge for individual and team winners. Thank you to Mr Mitchell, and good luck to everyone and enjoy – there is nothing like getting lost in a good book!
We are working hard to redesign our community room in school into a welcoming space for our families and are hoping to start our West Meadows Play Group very soon, run by our wonderful PSA, Mrs Maree. We would like to ask for donations of any good condition second hand toys which would be suitable for babies and toddlers. Any donations would be very gratefully received and can be brought to the school office.
We would like to invite parents and family members to join us in celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee on our last day of this half term, Friday 27th May. Weather dependent, we will hold our celebrations outside on the school grounds, starting at 9:15am. Join us to watch the children perform some special songs and wave their flags and then stay for refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there!
Every Monday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life.
