Having an own car gives us freedom to travel. We can go where we need and want to go. However, due to the increasing number of private vehicles it also causes traffic and air pollution. Drivers can be convinced to use public transportation by upgrading public transport, unifying terminals, and by modernizing some old vehicles.

Last October, it was reported that the capacity of Philippine National Railways were expanded and can carry more passengers. This mode of transportation is more effective, because private vehicles can only have few passengers due to pandemic and it can only causes traffic on the road.

Additionally, government also plans for unified terminals for buses. These terminals can also decreases traffic, because buses are not waiting in the highways for the passengers anymore.

Furthermore, old jeepneys are being modernized. It was reported that the phaseout of old jeepneys would push through this year. These will prevent pollution that is truly harmful to us and to the environment as well.

In conclusion, drivers can be convinced to use public transportation. It is a way to re-educate themselves to be a part of the solution on easing the traffic and pollution caused by overwhelming number of private vehicles.
