Oriel Ukrainian Scholarship

In association with the University, Oriel plans to provide a home for an extremely talented Ukrainian refugee whose studies have been interrupted by war. With your help, these plans can become a reality.

In the past months, news of the war in Ukraine has shocked the world, and many Orielenses and friends of the College have rightly asked how Oxford and Oriel intend to leverage our unique position in response.

In late April, the University resolved to provide 20 graduate and 20 undergraduate places - fully funded - for extremely talented Ukrainian students who would otherwise be unable to study due to the war. Now, the University needs enough colleges to step up to provide the students with a home and share some of the cost.

Oriel has pledged to accept at least one graduate student and offered to cover all course fees, living, travel, and associated expenses during their studies here. Organising such a scholarship just a few months before the start of the academic year is a huge effort, with the University, the College, and now Orielenses pulling together to make this happen.

Today, you are invited to become a part of this effort; you can help to help place a Ukrainian refugee scholar at Oriel by making a gift today. 100 alumni giving just £200 could fund the scholarship for one year. If the same number started a monthly gift of £20 to the College, we could fund the scholar for the expected three-year course and be well-placed to seize opportunities like this in the future.

With your support, we can provide a home at Oriel for a Ukrainian scholar.

You can change the life of an extremely talented Ukrainian graduate student by gifting them a chance to study at Oriel.
