Moov Fitness Tracker The fitness foreSight

The Moov instantly removes itself from the common complaints regarding wearables, the size of the device and the design being too obviously tech related. By operating as a non-imposing slim, round device that, in a very similar way to the MisfitShine that can be attached to virtually anything, the Moov isolates itself from the main competitors.

Fitness and activity trackers are great at monitoring our data and presenting the information back to us in clear graph forms and to the majority of people that is plenty, but with the Moov you move beyond the data that sometimes you can simply overlook and get advice geared on a personal level by your digital fitness coach. It is also not just for advanced fitness professionals the Moov will happily work with beginners and assist in developing them in a range of activities and sports as well as monitoring your sleep activity.

The Moov isn’t restricted by only attaching to wearer, you can actually attach the Moov to other objects, as you can see in the photo. The Moov can being attached to a golf club and analysing the golfers swing. Being able to deliver analysis like this in real time is going to become crucial to any sportsman. Or it can even be attached to shoes for in depth running analysis

The light indicator around the rim of the Moov glows in your chosen colour when it’s actively tracking your movements and when the device is charging. Considering its functionality is not tied to the wristband form factor, Moov is one of the closest devices to a multi-use sensor that could track things other than exercise. For example, in the future you might be able to use Moov as a motion sensor connected to smart home devices, which could detect when you enter your home and, e.g., automatically turn on the lights.

With Moov, those sensor advancements are used in conjunction with corresponding algorithms to match the activity type and then monitor your actions. Moov tells you in real time with a Siri-sounding voice when, for instance, the rate of your stride is too slow and the force of your foot hitting the ground too high, potentially causing stress on knees.

The Moov itself is a simple circle about the size of a 2p coin. It comes in black and white.

Moov looks like it could be a smartwatch, but instead of a watch face its circular and plain, its waterproof tracking disk can be removed from the band and placed almost anywhere on your body. A lot of users are reporting that they loved the ankle strap that Moov comes while running or around my wrist while boxing and other cardiovascular exercises like running or swimming, and even more users saying it was so comfortable that they forgot they were even wearing the device. The smooth and sleek tracking disk is designed so you can also slip it into the laces of your shoes or in your pocket.

Though it’s not radical in appearance, the device differentiates itself in both the capacity of its lightweight hardware and the power of its software. Moov contains not just an accelerometer and gyroscope for detecting movement in space and the force of that motion, but also a magnetometer to pick up on rotation.

The Moov is currently available for a price tag of $64.95 and in comparison to its competitors, a very impressive price range in our opinion.

If you’re looking for a device to track your steps, calories and sleep, pick up a tracker like the Jawbone UP24 or a Misfit Shine. But if you want to get better at your workouts and have more fun doing them, without paying for a personal trainer, the Moov is a mini but mighty motivator.
