Breaking Free of Child Anxiety and OCD: A Scientifically Proven Program for Parents by Eli R. Lebowitz, PhD

Parenting a child with anxiety can be challenging and impact the whole family. Dr. Lebowitz developed this scientifically proven program for parents at the Yale Child Study Center. Dr. Lebowitz’s SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) provides a step-by-step parent-based treatment for child and adolescent anxiety. He advocates for responding to anxious children with acceptance and confidence. The intention is not to eliminate anxiety, rather to help the child to manage it.

I highly recommend this book to parents looking for a different approach in supporting their anxious children. This book is especially suitable for parents of youth that are reluctant to participate in counseling or actively change their own behavior. Parents can implement this program regardless of whether their child has a formal anxiety diagnosis.
