Project Description:

The Puskar Center football operations facility renovation preserves an important historic space and elevates the program’s ability to attract and develop top recruits.

The project unifies the Puskar Center with the stadium’s architecture and renovated exterior concourses, completed in 2017. It updates all utilities and systems to meet sustainability goals, provides accessibility on a difficult mountainous site, and saves embodied carbon by repurposing the bones of the utilitarian precast structures.

Fans of all ages enter the building and discover the new Hall of Traditions, its interactive LED displays and memorabilia. In parallel, the team facility improvements help develop whole athletes, preparing them for success on and off the field, while enhancing wellness, hygiene and recovery. A new post-practice recovery sequence includes hygienic ventilated mudroom cubbies, shoe dryers, a human carwash, and a walkthrough hydrotherapy pool.

Dynamic synced video, sound and lighting are stitched along the recruiting path, culminating in an immersive experience at the locker room. The team spaces have a darker, moodier color palate with stacked stone reminiscent of coal, blacked-out ceilings and dramatic lighting. Technology blends with artifact and collegiate brand with substantial materiality, representing the state’s workmanlike values.
