Meet the Fine Arts Teachers of Mercy High School

FIRST UP…

First, we have art teacher Ms. Jane Langenfeld. She has been involved with art education for 22 years; 17 of those years being at Mercy High School. In 2014, the National Art Teachers Association named Langenfeld Secondary Art Teacher of the Year.

HOORAY!

Currently, a number of the art students are working on ceramic mugs! This year, these artists have learned how to work with clay and turn it into functioning kitchenware… with style of course!

NEXT UP…

Our next Fine Arts teacher is theatre teacher, play and musical director, and Public Speaking teacher, Mr. Joshua vonKampen. With two young children at home, vonKampen has still been able to manage two productions a year as well as teaching multiple classes throughout the school day.

these costumes will be on stage soon for Mercy’s Mary Poppins!
the stage set for Mary Poppins is a work in progress.

Director vonKampen and plenty of dedicated Mercy Girls have been working to build sets and perfect each scene for this year’s amazing musical production. Make sure to show your support for the musical on April 8, 9, and 10!

last, but certainly not least…

Mercy’s third and final teacher is show choir director, music and vocal teacher, and Theology teacher, Ms. Nina Noronha. Just as of 2020, Noronha was brand new to Mercy High School as I was. Since then, she has been able to bring together an award-winning group of young women to showcase their talents in a fun and competitive form of art.

Ms. Noronha could not be more proud of the excellence that she has helped enhance in all of the Mercy girls that she teaches each day. Whether you are taking her “Intro to Piano” class or are a part of any of her outstanding singing groups, you are sure to leave her room with even more talent you walked in with.
