Rock Valley wins second consecutive women's bowling title

Cheektowaga, NY, - For the second time in school history and the second consecutive year, the Rock Valley (IL) Golden Eagles took home the 2023 NJCAA Women's Bowling Championship. The Golden Eagles knocked 13,317 pins, topping their score of last year (13,148) which was the most pins knocked by a national champion since 2010. Samantha Meyers helped lead Rock Valley to their national title with a high series score of 717 (277, 257, 183).

Golden Eagles take home back-to-back national titles

Rock Valley never trailed throughout the championship. They kept their first place team standings from their day one score of 8772 points.

Samantha Meyers came in first place in the Women's Singles standings as well as the Women's All Event standings with a total score of 2446 points to help make this happen.

Iowa Western finishes as runner-up

At second place, Iowa Western landed in their highest national tournament spot in school history. Prior to this season, Iowa Western has placed in fourth and third place in the past two years.

Iowa Western totaled a score of 12,406 points. Kasey Pleas knocked 612 pins to help lead the Reivers to their National Runner-Up title.

Tournament Awards

In the Women's Singles championship, Rock Valley's Samantha Meyers brought home first place with a total of 717 points. Lauren Funk of Hawkeye brought home second place with 666 points, and Brynne Mickelson of Iowa Central brought home third place with 630 points.

In the Women's Doubles championship, Olivia Watson and Jocelynn Eggert scored a total of 1,189 points for Rock Valley to take first place. Coming in second was Gabbi McCarthy and Kaylynn Oliver of Iowa Western with 1,167 points. Coming in close behind at third place was Kaylee Schoffler and Julia Shroat of Schoolcraft with 1,147 points.

In the Women's All Events championship, Samantha Meyers of Rock Valley claimed the top spot with 2.446 points. Hawkeye's Lauren Funk came in close behind with 2.435 points while Rock Valley's Jocelyn Eggert came in at third with 2.378 points.

All-America Finishers

The top-8 finishers of the All-Events standings are named to the NJCAA All-America team. The All-America team features four members from champion Rock Valley, and one from each of Hawkeye, Jackson College, Kirtland and Westchester.
