First Day of Camp

Residential Check-In: The first day of camp for residential students is Sunday, June 23rd. Camp check­-in will be between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Good Counsel Residence Hall. The address to the dorm building for check-in is Good Counsel Hall, Villanova, PA 19085. You can enter this into your GPS to be taken to the building.

Parking: will be available at the lot across from the Good Counsel Hall. Please see an interactive campus map here.

Commuter Check-In and Daily Pick up/Drop off: Commuters will start with commuter drop-off on Monday morning, June 4th at the Connelly Center Loop. You can type in Connelly Center Villanova, PA 19085 into your GPS. Our staff will be there to check in your campers each morning. Please do not leave your camper without checking them in with a staff member. You will check in your camper at 8:30 a.m. each morning and pick up will be at 5:00 p.m. each evening. We do not offer early check in or later check out. You will go to the same location for drop off and pick up each day.

Residential Life

Dormitory Details: Residential Campers will be staying in Good Counsel.

The Good Counsel Dorms provides your student with modern amenities and a welcoming and comfortable living experience. These traditional dormitories feature spacious double rooms with air conditioning to ensure a pleasant and restful environment.

Dorm Amenities: The dormitory features a large study room with tables, chairs, and ample lighting, providing the perfect space for students to focus and study. This dedicated study space enables students to collaborate with one another, discuss important topics from the day, and work on their assignments in a supportive and productive environment. Additionally, Good Counsel has a TV room, which provides a great space for students to relax and unwind after a long day of learning and debating. The room is equipped with comfortable seating, a large TV, and a selection of popular movies and TV shows to choose from.

Dining:

Dining Details for Commuter Students: Please pack your child a lunch everyday if they are a commuter camper and did not purchase a lunch package. Commuter Campers will not be able to purchase daily lunch on campus. You will need to pack a lunch for your camper each day if you are a commuter camper and did not purchase the lunch package. We cannot add the lunch package to your registration at this time as meal counts for our camp have been submitted. As a reminder, we do run a NUT FREE camp. Any items containing nuts that our staff find will be confiscated and returned to parents at the end of each day.

Dougherty Hall offers an exceptional dining experience for Capitol Debate students. The dining hall has won multiple awards, including the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) Loyal E. Horton Dining Award for Excellence in Catering, and the prestigious Ivy Award for its commitment to culinary excellence.

Last Day of Camp for ALL CAMPERS

Thursday, July 4, 2024 (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

Parking: For Final Day Events: 8:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.: Parking: Parents and commuter campers should arrive on campus no later than 8:45 a.m., and recommended parking is at the M-2 SAC Parking Garage across from the Connelly Center. Capitol Debate Staff will escort parents to the student showcase debates from the parking garage. This includes all commuter families. You can input Connelly Center Villanova, PA 19085 into your GPS, as that is what is displayed on Google for the address.

Demonstration Debates: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Our campers will put on Demonstration Debates for their families. This is a great chance for parents to see their students present what they've learned at camp. The showcase will take place at Connelly Center from about 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Our staff will escort parents to the correct room for their students showcase.

Award ceremony 11:00 a.m. - noon: After the Demonstration Debates, parents and campers will be led to our Awards Ceremony at the Connelly Cinema. Our staff will guide you to this location after the showcase debates have concluded. Our staff will share the floor to talk about their experience, campers will receive their certificates, watch our fun camp video from the past 2 weeks and talk about your Alumni benefits for completing camp.

Checkout:­ After we wrap up our awards ceremony at noon, we will dismiss our commuter students and escort our residential students to Good Counsel where they can gather their belongings and head home. Parents can move their car to the lot across from the Good Counsel Hall as they did on opening day. Please see an interactive campus map here.Students will have to make sure their dorms are clean and MUST be checked-off by one of the Residential Life Staff. Make sure that students return their keys to the Housing Staff before they are allowed to leave campus. There are charges for lost keys or ID Cards.
