A CLOSER LOOK AT ARIZONA SOFTBALL PAC-12 PLAY by: amit syal

Arizona softball currently boasts a 35-7 overall record with a perfect 12-0 conference record. After four conference series, Arizona has yet to lose a single game, let alone an entire matchup. The Wildcats have won their past 17 games and take on Stanford this weekend at home in Tucson. Here's a closer look at how Arizona has defeated its Pac-12 opponents.

ARIZONA VS OREGON

Arizona vs Oregon: Arizona won the first two games of the series by a run-rule victory (8-0), the first one after six innings and the second one after five innings. In the final game, Arizona defeated the Ducks 8-3. The Wildcats outscored the Ducks 24-3 on the weekend.
Arizona picked up its first sweep over Oregon since the 2007 season and also became the first team in the conference to sweep Oregon since the Golden Bears did in 2011.

ARIZONA VS OREGON STATE

Arizona vs Oregon State: The following weekend, the Wildcats travelled to Corvallis, Ore., to face off against the Oregon State Beavers in their second conference matchup of the season.
Everything went right for the Wildcats that weekend, only letting the Beavers score five points all weekend. The 'Cats won their first game in a run-rule victory, 9-1 after five innings. You might be wondering: How many times has Arizona started 6-0 in conference play in the last 15 years?
Two. This season, the Wildcats started 6-0 for only the second time since the 2004 season. Everything was going in the right direction for the unstoppable Wildcats right before they headed back to Tucson to host the Arizona State Sun Devils in arguably one of the biggest matchups of the 2019 season.

ARIZONA VS ARIZONA STATE

Arizona vs Arizona State: The Wildcats returned back to Hillenbrand to host the Sun Devils in the third conference matchup of the season. Would ASU be able to end the hot streak the Wildcats had in the weeks before playing them?
No. 17 ASU was absolutely no match for the Wildcats, as they were unable to put up a single point all weekend with two of the three games ending in run-rule victories. What did infielder Rylee Pierce and pitcher Taylor McQuillin have to say about that weekend?
“Honestly, I just keep it simple and work with my team. I don’t really think too much of it. I go out there with a plan and execute,” Pierce said. And the mindset going forward after that weekend? “Putting the pedal to the metal, all gas no brakes," according to McQuillin.

ARIZONA VS UTAH

Arizona vs Utah: The series between the Wildcats and Utes was quite possibly one of Arizona's most dominant series of the season so far. The Wildcats made school history by scoring 48 runs in three games, the most ever since the three-game series were introduced back in 2010.
All three of the games in the weekend series ended in a run-rule victory after five innings. The Utes were only able to score THREE runs the entire weekend. Arizona has NEVER defeated a conference team by that big of a weekend margin. The Wildcats are yet to lose a conference game this season...
