Cambridge 360 A Volunteer-Driven Non-Profit Organization helping to develop the Cambridge Community Center. Issue #1, February 15, 2016

Welcome to the current happenings of the Cambridge 360 organization and storefront! We hope to bring you regular features such as:

Volunteer Spotlights - we'd love to recognize our amazing volunteers by featuring them as a way for you to get to know us better. This week's spotlight is on:

Meet Julie Sweeney and Alan Westcott. They've been regularly volunteering at Cambridge 360 for almost two years! Some of the reasons they give for their effort, are the "healthy benefits the Cambridge Community Center will bring to their children, grandchildren, and themselves. Volunteering at the store is also a way to get out, do something different, and have fun meeting other folks, too". Can we just say, "Aww"!

Local Business in the news:

A warm "thank-you", to Lisa Quicksell Porter, Tara Quicksell, Whitney Benzing, and Katie Cutillo, Heather Haynes, and Amanda Richardson from Essence Salon & Day Spa who collected donations to benefit Cambridge 360 in the amount of $80.00! A fabulous business with heart and belief in our community - please consider showing your local support next time you're in need of personal services by reaching out to them. Click here:
These are just a sampling of items recently donated - thanks to your generous support, some of these already have new homes!

Which brings us to; maybe you're just a little interested in just what exactly is involved in volunteering at the Cambridge 360 store?

It's as simple as hanging the "open" signs, greeting folks, receiving donations, cleaning and displaying donations, basic cash register and credit card use, and a whole lot of fun making new friends and seeing old!

So, not up to speed on operating a basic cash register or credit card operations? not to worry; we'll train and mentor you until you're comfortable handling it on your own; or you can choose to tag-team with another volunteer. How amazing is that?! Did we mention the volunteer shifts are just 3-hour slots? Once a week, once a month, as a last minute fill-in; yes, it all works! If you have extra flexibility in your schedule you can opt for more shifts and even help with mentoring newer volunteers. We'll get you started; just email: cambridge360@yahoo.com

A brief tie-in with the Cambridge Community Center:

Saturday Work Party on February 6th, 2016 - Breathing color and life back into the Field House and Annex of the Cambridge Community Center! Top right is Robert Andersen of New York; on board courtesy of the Vermont Woodworking School internship program. The opportunity to work on this Community project is, "pretty cool". Lower right is Mike Hagen-Peter, who raised his family in Underhill, and feels this effort is "wonderful for the community". Bottom center cleaning the steel beams and walls is Linda Collins, who feels that it's "incredible that this type of faculty is right in the village - a stone's throw from the school and Main Street; and this will become a town jewel". Bottom left is Brian Warren of Jeffersonville, who hopes to "enjoy and benefit from the services the Community Center will offer". On the tractor is John Dunn, M.D., energetically helping out wherever he can.

Next on the Agenda: Cambridge 360 volunteer info meeting Monday evening at 5:45 pm, followed by monthly Board meeting at 6:30. Please come and learn more, and get involved in making our community an even better place to live!
