Note from Mr Higginbottom

Hello! Thanks so much for supporting Children's Mental Health Week by encouraging children to 'dress to express' on Monday! They looked fabulous! Mental health is so important and we want to ensure that children know that they can talk to any of the adults in school if they would like to - please support your child to be able to reach out for support.

Speaking of looking fabulous, please ensure that children follow our uniform expectations at all times in school. Details can be found on our website if you're not sure.

Miss Edwards, our Relationships and Health Education subject leader, has written a new relationships and health policy. She would like to seek your opinions on what we are proposing to teach in all classes, so we would be grateful if you could view the policy here and email enquiries@sqp.wwpat.org with any comments you would like to make before Friday 4th March. Thank you.

Our sports providers, Kixx, will be running two after school clubs, starting after half term. Please see the details below, including how to book a place for your child.

Parents of Y6 children - please look out for a letter about booster classes starting after half term.

You might have spotted that the gates to the playground now close at 8:55AM because children should be starting lessons at 8:50. Thank you very much for ensuring that your child is at school on time and ready to learn.

Just a reminder that school breaks up for half term next Friday (18th February) and children return to school on Tuesday 1st March.

Well done to Class Y1/2P with 99.6% attendance this week - that's amazing!

Kixx After School Sports Clubs

We are really pleased to let you know that our sports provider, Kixx, will be running two after school sports clubs with us, starting after half term. Key stage 2 children are invited on Monday evenings until 4:15PM (starting on Monday 7th March as 28th Feb is an INSET day), with key stage 1 children invited on Thursday until 4PM, starting on Thursday 3rd March. In order to confirm your commitment to a place at these clubs, you can sign up via Arbor for a 5-session (Key stage 2) or 6-session (key stage 1) block. The sessions are £1 each, but to confirm the place for the half term, you will be asked to pay for the 5 or 6 sessions when you book. In addition to the Kixx sports coach, a staff member will be present at the club to support children. Places are limited to 20 for each club. Children will need to be collected at the end of the session. Sign-up on Arbor will be available from Monday 14th February at 12 Noon and booking the place gives your consent for your child to attend.

School Meals

Please note that on Monday, pizza will be served instead of sausages and on Tuesday, sausages will served instead of pizza. This is due to delivery issues.

Mrs Bateman, our school cook, has asked that if you order a school meal and your child is then unable to attend school, it would be very helpful if you could cancel the order for that day. Thank you.

Online Safety

To support our school community to help to keep everyone safe online, we'll be sharing useful information about popular apps and sites. This week links with Children's Mental Health Week - checking in with friends.

Thank you for your continued support of our school and for supporting your child by ensuring they're at school on time and they read at least 4 times each week. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's time in school you can email enquiries@sqp.wwpat.org, find me on ClassDojo or chat to me at the start or end of the school day.

At Swinton Queen Primary School, children are aspirational, courageous and inquisitive; respectful of all.
