For this brief we were asked to create a story with a series of at least 3 images shot on Illford/Kentmere film. With one image being submitted to the Illford Harmen competition.
I knew straight away that I was going to shoot a sense of belonging/community, Rob Bremmer's and Nan goldin's work are a massive influence and inspiration to what I create with my images. I love to document my life, I love to capture real images, of real people doing real things. I try to shoot as little staged or organised images as possible with my personal work.
Capturing 80s Liverpool is a series that I took a lot from when I first got into photography when I was 18. I came across his work online and tried to emulate it with my own series of images, from innocent images being on holiday with my friends to being in grim after parties and not actually remembering taking the images. I wanted to take the opportunity with this brief to show what I love, and create strong candid where possible images, with emotion and personality behind them.
