LIRA
Firstly, we explored the book 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes.
We focused on the vocabulary used in the text and we did a lot of work on author intent.
Next, we explored the story of 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman.
We explored the relationships between the different characters and how the author has chosen to present these characters.
Topic
Our focus for this half term has been art where we have been learning about painting landscapes. Throughout, we have explored David Hockney's artwork including his famous landscapes of the Yorkshire countryside. We have focused on a variety of artistic skills such as:
- The use of tints and shades
- How primary and secondary colours mix to create tertiary colours
- Creating texture with different paintbrushes
We put all of our new knowledge and skills together to create our own landscape inspired by the work of David Hockney.
RSHE
This half term, we have been further exploring respect and close, positive relationships.
As part of this, we looked into:
- The features of a caring relationship
- How to identify healthy relationships
- What makes people unique
- How to show respect for peoples similarities and differences
- How to make others feel included and supported

Being utterly fabulous
Class 7 have done some incredible work this half term, alongside rehearsing for their performance. We are very proud of them and I'm sure you are too!
