Summit Peer Training Day Summit Recovery Hub 12/10/2022

On Saturday, December 10, 2022 about 20 Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporters (CPRS) convened at the Akron-Summit County Public Library North Hill branch, in their community room to hold a Peer Training Day.

We participated in a focus group to inform the Community Assessment Plan for the County of Summit ADM Board, to talk about what it is like accessing services in our area and what barriers and gaps exist.

We had some free goodie bags with these cute screen cleaners, pens and even little power-bank charger flashlights from the ADM.

Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporters need to get 30 hours of continuing education to decertify, and there are a number of mandatory training subjects. This Training Day was to help get a few of those mandatory credit hours knocked out so recertification is smoother.

Rikki Ross and Rob Braden, who both work at Catholic Charities Peer Recovery Outreach Center at St. John’s.

Enjoying one of the three trainings!

David Monter & Keith Johnson presented on Health & Wellness in Recovery and featured the Running 2B Well recovery wellness groups in the area.

  2. Cultural Sensitivity
  3. Trauma-Informed Peer Support

David Monter training on why it’s important not to neglect the physical aspect of recovery.

Taking notes on In “Cultural Sensitivity” training. What you see is only the tip of the iceberg…”

So good to see so many of the dedicated peers show up for this training day event.
