Finding Zoom Recordings in Panopto
If you are the host of the meeting your Zoom Cloud Recordings are automatically added to your Panopto Folder. You can access them at any time by logging into csun.hosted.panopto.com and going to your “My Folder”.
From there click on the “Meeting Recordings” button.
Once you click on the folder called “My Meetings” all of your Zoom meetings will appear.
However, what do you do if you are not the meeting host? Or what if you are a meeting co- host or a scheduled alternate host? If you are a meeting co-host, Zoom Cloud recordings are not automatically available to you. You will need to request the link to the cloud recording from the original meeting host. This can be done by having them going to the Zoom Cloud recording and then locating the Cloud Recording for the video you were a co- host for. From there they can click on the button labeled “Copy Sharable Link”.
Once you receive the link to the video, you will be able to open the video and download it. Once you download the video it will be on your computer and you can then upload the recording to Panopto.
It is important that you do this as soon as possible because Zoom Cloud Recordings are not permanently stored in the Zoom Cloud. They are automatically purged every semester. However once you have copy saved on your computer or saved to Panopto it will be available for a much longer amount of time.
Once you have the videos on your computer, open a new browser window or tab and go to csun.hosted.panopto.com, this will take you to your Panopto account where you will be uploading your videos. Once you are logged in, click on the red “Create” button on the top of the screen, from the drop-down list select “Folder”.
Give the folder a name that will make it easy for you to find and locate, a good tip is giving it a name that is like the course and adding “Zoom videos” to the end of the name, it is also helpful to give the folder a brief description.
Now that the folder is created you can upload the videos by clicking on the red “Create” button and select “Upload Media”.
This will open a window that will allow you to either drag and drop or select the files on your computer, you can upload multiple files at once.
Keep in mind that your upload time will depend on the size of the video file and the upload speed of your internet connection. In general, download speeds are faster than upload speeds. Once the upload(s) are complete Panopto will process the video(s), during this time it is generating the captions and creating the searchable transcripts.
