Our book had no words so we used the pictures to retell the story.
We created our own Tales Toolkits. It helped us to talk about the characters, settings, problem and solutions.
We are doing clear recognisable pictures, showing how much our fine motor and drawing skills have developed.
Let’s look at our amazing writing.
We retold the story using different pictures from the story.
Jack and the beanstalk
During our work based on the book Jack and the Beanstalk, we described the giant. We thought about what he looked like and how he acted.
We then sequenced the story and started writing the story in our writing sessions.
Retelling the story in our own words.
We started to write our retell of the story. We used capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Maths Learning
We were doing some measuring using standard and non-standard units.
We measured the length of different footprints to see which belonged to the Giant.
We have been focusing on securing our knowledge of composition of numbers.
Easter
We started our Easter learning finding out about pancake day and Lent.
We found out about why we celebrate Easter.
We used different tools to make our Easter cards.
We worked hard when we were writing our cards to form our letters correctly.
We made hot cross buns. Mrs Bailey worked with the children to measure the ingredients. The children carefully followed the instructions to make them.
Kneading
Mixing
Place on a tray
Cook them
Hooray the Easter bunny arrived and left us some eggs in our basket.
We talked about why we give Easter eggs because it’s a sign of new life .
Our Easter egg competitions was a real success there were some amazing entries.
Our Subject Driver - Art
Our subject driver gave us the chance to explore different tools and media.
Our first project was linked to our book chalk. We did some blending using chalk indoors and outdoors we created large scale pieces of art.
We made mountain ranges using chalk.we blended the chalk and used a stencil to create the mountain range.
We created our own pieces of art inspired by Jackson Pollock. He used splatting on paper with paint and used different tools.
We are proud of our art.
We enjoyed large scale art outdoors.
We used our art to create love hearts on our Mothers’ day cards.
We added the hearts onto a background which was created by different shades of blue.
Our finished cards were so special
Science
We started our topic linked to growth which we will continue next term.
We grew some grass and made sure we added water and gave it sunlight to help it grow.
We also planted seeds to grow our very own beanstalk.
We talked about the different parts of the flower.
We ordered the instructions carefully to show how to grow a plant.
We listened to a song about parts of flowers, the children loved singing it.
What will be learning next half term?
Our subject driver will be history, we will be talking about important events in our lives and tge lives of famous people in the past.
We will be exploring growth and new life in science and we are in for a huge experience which we will never forget.
In science we will be growing plants and finding out about life cycles of plants and animals.
In English we will be writing at length, focusing on writing sentences. One of the books we will look at is Zog and the flying doctors by Julia Donaldson.
In maths we will be developing our addition and subtraction facts and find out about Money.
Thank you to all our Parents and Carers who have supported their children and the school on their amazing learning journey. It’s now our last term and we can’t wait to see your chikdren continue to make us all proud.
