What is Devatop Center for African Development

Devatop center for African development is a youth-led non-profit organization that is fighting for the end of human trafficking and violence against women. This organization was founded in 2013 by a man named Joseph Osuigwe Chidiebere in a rural community in Nigeria called Lugbe. Joseph decided to start this organization when he was teaching at the women rehabilitation center which was operated by “The Society Against Prostitution and child labor”. He had always been an advocate of human rights but while teaching he learned of the abhorrent abuses students who were survivors of sexual exploitation went through. He was dismayed at the rate which young people became targets of sexual exploitation. After that he realized this was something his community needed.

The Talkam Project

This is an initiative taken on by devatop that utilizes information and technological communication and local methods to increase the reporting of human trafficking and other human rights abuses in communities. They hope to strengthen the response system to these crimes by using this app. This app is also used to provide counseling to victims as well! Please donate if you are able to so they can continue to improve the app and hopefully prevent more people from becoming victims of human trafficking.
