Why do some studies fail, while others thrive?
Many successes and failures in research studies begin during the design process. Designers must be cognizant during study development to develop realistic and attainable study procedures and assessments for research subjects. Especially in the pediatric population.
"You want me to swallow that whole thing?"
The pediatric population is not only a vulnerable population, but easily fall victim to faulty study design. Whether its selecting a drug that won't be palatable to pediatric patients, or choosing tablet that are too big or hard to swallow. In the pharmaceutical industry there has always been a rush to test already approved drugs or devices from the adult population in the pediatric population. However, many fail to accept that some medications, or devices are simply not feasible for use in the pediatric population.
