The eLearning Team continues to assist faculty through the QM course development process for courses being taught online. For an overview of the course development process, visit our Development Process of Distance Education Courses page.
QM Review Change Proposal
New price increases for official QM reviews has led to discussions about the QM certification process. Currently, the review process begins with the faculty member working with an instructional designer (ID) and sending the completed course for internal review. After standards are met, the course progresses to official review. Internal reviews add weeks to the course development timeline which delays the certification process. Some of our experienced faculty developers usually request to skip the internal review to expedite the certification process.
Based on our experience with the QM certification process, it was proposed to eliminate the internal review from the certification process to expedite the process and to balance out the cost with the new fee increase for official review with the following exceptions: 1) Faculty developers new to teaching online; 2) at the request of the faculty developer; 3) as a recommendation from the instructional designer assigned to the course.
DEITC members are encouraged to consult with faculty colleagues for their input before the next meeting in November when the proposal will be brought to a vote.
QM Courses Certified
Since the last DEITC meeting in September 2021, there have been 8 more courses that have been QM certified.

Plagiarism Prevention and Academic Integrity Update
An Academic Integrity Module (InfoBase Learning Cloud) was added to the TAMIU Blackboard Learn template for all courses. The module, which is enabled for faculty, can be made visible for students if the faculty member chooses to use it in their course. Students will view 7 short videos in the module and complete individual assessments. Faculty can enable the grading feature if desired or just make the modules available for viewing only. In spring 2022, eLearning will be creating a pop-up announcement through Blackboard highlighting the link for easy access closer to the start of the spring semester.
