"...having done all, STAND!" Communiqué :: MAY 2021

"It’s time to seize and change the narrative and start living the abundant life."

Hi everyone,

Pentecost Sunday: It’s time to seize and change the narrative.

Pentecost Sunday is on the 23rd May. It must inspire all of us to seize the narrative in our world today instead of allowing the current Pandemic to determine the narrative of our lives.

It will take sometimes before this Pandemic ends. While we all must follow the necessary medically-driven SOPs in our lives and ministries, we should not be held captive, bound and be limited by it.

The early believers also faced very stressful seasons (politically, socially, religiously, pandemics, etc.) without much (if any) worldly support. They grew strong under intense pressures from within and outside the church, faced with immense political, social, religious and spiritual challenges. But they were not defeated but grew strong because they experienced the, “reality and power of the Holy Spirit.”

Jesus never planned for us to be left helpless and alone.

  • John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you”

He has promised us power to continue to live and serve Him irrespective of the challenges the world may go through.

  • Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The supply of the Holy Spirit is available under any circumstance.

  • Phil 1:19-20 “For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death”

The Holy Spirit lives inside every child of God.

  • Rom 8:11,” But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you”

Not everyone or church will have the same level of innovation, tool, personnel and facilities needed to combat this Pandemic practically but we all can have the Holy Spirit power. It’s time to seize and change the narrative.

  • We are not Victims but Victors
  • We are not Weakened but Strengthened
  • We are not Alone but Alive in God
  • We are not Marginalized but Unstoppable

What we need to do is to go beyond believism and consciously lean on Him more instead of running on our own. Intensify our prayer lives, be baptized in the Holy Spirit, be filled and walk in the Spirit.

It’s time to seize and change the narrative and start living the abundant life. John 10:10, “The thief (COVID 19) does not come except to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.

God Bless You and the church is praying for You.

Your Pastors,

Pastor Ong Sek Leang & Pastor Nancy Ong

Building a Hedge and Wall of Fire

through Prayer and Intercession

“Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land” Job 1:10

“For I,’ says the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ (Zech 2:5)

It’ s time to WAKE UP from our spiritual slumber. The Church is facing the most intense spiritual warfare today since her birth on Pentecost 2000 years ago.

Even as the Pandemic rages uncontrollably through the world, the devil and the anti-Christ spirit is at work through different human institutions (business, religious, government, etc.) is taking advantage to hinder and destroy God’s people.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is not limited by space and time. Its available to all who will call upon Him in faith. He hears us Onsite and Online as we call upon Him.

Join us every Wednesday night (Onsite & Online) at 8:00pm as we pray for ourselves, our church and the nation.

ICBM- Namely Institute of Charismatic & Biblical Ministry has continued its equipping ministry via Zoom ever since the commencement of MCO. This is in tandem with the book of Acts chapter 17 , verses 10 to 12, whereby The Bereans were more noble ....in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures daily to see if it was so.

The Ancient Bereans had a wonderful biblical reputation. So should we. It is encouraging and heartwarming to see the members of Metro and others join us at our online zoom classes.

In the last two terms of ICBM, we have various courses offered that appeal or pertain to the different palates and needs of the individuals. It ranges from foundational studies to bible books or themes like 1 Thessalonians, 1,2,3 John, Romans, Spiritual armour; practical life subjects like parenting, inculcating values together and successful studies, and equipping courses like Basic Lifegroup Leaders Training (BLLT).

Let’s see what some students have today about these courses.

SPIRITUAL ARMOUR

Many have benefited by being a Berean Christian. Will you not join us in our next ICBM courses? Come and be blessed. Continue to be like Ezra ( Ezra 7::9-10). He studied, practiced the word and taught the word of GOD to others.

May everyone of us , followers of Jesus follow in this pathway.

Upon surveying the people’s response to online classes. Their comments are encapsulated in the following. It is notable that some have preferred on-site classes. They feel that it is easier to concentrate without unstable on -line interruptions; it is better with face to face interactions which enhances fellowship. It facilitates better listening and interaction and prayer time for one another. One said, ‘it is better to be on site as I do not need to rush back from church after service and lunch with friends.”

However , the online mode is also a desired alternative. Especially during COVID restrictions and concerns. This is noted as we hear their expression of needs.

“It enables them to learn despite having to babysit and care for children in the comfort and ease of their home.”

“I can rush home after church to be with my elderly parents and watch over them with care whilst learning God’s word.”

On site classes will make a comeback but on-line classes are here to stay. So watch out for more and sign up to learn and grow and be blessed as a Christian”. On-site & Online .

The Easter Party kicked off with a fun Dance and Worship session with Sis Bernice & sis Caryn leading the respective sessions.

For the older ones, the excitement level was kept up with an Easter Theme Kahoot game which had many of the children calling out the answers as the game was being played. Needless to say, this caused some consternation or dismay amongst the competitive few, but it was great fun.

This was followed up with the much-anticipated Easter Message from Ps Jay Risner which had all the children in stiches especially with his ventriloquism act.

The younger ones also enjoyed Ps Jay's message through songs, tricks and with Jojo. Different activites was planned for the younger kids in break up rooms. Easter story videos, sign language memory verse, games and crafts. Topping it up is snack and chat.

Even in the younger aged group, the children understood 'why Jesus died on the cross for them' as they answered the bible quiz very well. During the chit chat session amongst the younger ones, one chirpy child started a conversation about her birthday of which stirred up a nice conversation amongst the teachers and students. Who doesn't like to talk about birthdays.

The kids enjoyed doing a simple craft of drawing a tomb and making a simple cross with paper. Cassandra, a child that had to leave early insisted to do the craft which was whatsapp to the teacher later. It was good that the teachers had the opportunity to meet some of the parents who joined in the zoom. Overall it was great celebrating Easter together with the kids over zoom. Praise the Lord! resounds the younger aged group.

Whilst the older children proceeded to show their own personal Cross Craft and also spoke about what the cross meant to them. Some of the Cross Craft shown amazing insight and creativity with portrayal of Roman soldiers guarding the cross and some had incredibly colourful artworks.

Our very own Grace Foo, a child in the King's Kids then presented a message about the Cross with the aid of a simple paper craft about finding true happiness in Christ. We took this opportunity to make a Salvation Call and Praise God, several young hands shot up in response. We prayed for them and moved on to more active games before regrettably saying our farewells to everyone.
