Enhancements to the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme
TBESS was announced as part of Budget 2023 to help businesses meet increasing electricity or natural gas costs. Enhancements to the scheme have been approved and include:
- Extending the scheme to 31 May 2023
- Reducing, with effect from 1 September 2022, the energy cost threshold for qualification for the scheme from a 50% increase in electricity or gas costs to a 30% increase
- Increasing, from 1 March 2023, the level of relief from 40% to 50% of eligible costs.
New Sectoral Employment Order for workers in the construction industry
Neale Richmond, Minister of State for Employment Affairs and Retail Business has accepted the Labour Court recommendation for new minimum pay and pension contribution rates for workers in the construction sector.
This Sectoral Employment Order will provide for increased rates of hourly pay for workers in the construction sector, as well as amendments to the minimum pension contributions. Further increases in pay will commence from 5 August 2024.
Retailers - €3.4 million fund available to enhance your online presence
In the latest round of the Online Retail Scheme, funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and administered by Enterprise Ireland, retailers can access up to €25,000 in grant funding to strengthen their ecommerce capabilities.
Closing date: 12.00 noon on 3 May 2023 for online application
Ukraine Enterprise Crisis Scheme extended
The €200 million Ukraine Enterprise Crisis Scheme consists of two streams of funding to enable viable but vulnerable firms of all sizes in the manufacturing and internationally traded services sectors to continue contributing to the success of the Irish economy.
The first stream, which assists firms suffering liquidity problems as a result of Russia’s war on Ukraine, has been extended to 31 December 2023.
The second stream, which will help those impacted by severe rises in energy costs, has been extended to 31 March 2024.
Consultation - EU directive on liability for defective products
The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has launched a public consultation on the EU proposal for a new directive on liability for defective products.
The closing date for receipt of submissions is 5:00pm, 27 April 2023 by email to conspol@enterprise.gov.ie.
Consultation - Guidelines of the export of cyber-surveillance items
The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the Guidelines of the export of cyber-surveillance items under Article 5 of Regulation (EU) No. 2021/821
The consultation is directed at all stakeholders with an interest in export of dual-use items and technologies and is seeking their views on draft guidelines regarding the export of cyber-surveillance items.
The closing date for receipt of submissions is 6:00pm, 09 June 2023.
Disruptive Technologies Call 6 open
Call 6 of the Disruptive Technology and Innovation Fund (DTIF) will close at 3:00pm, 31 May 2023.
Companies and researchers working on cutting-edge disruptive technologies have six more weeks to form collaborations with other industry and research partners and apply for DTIF funding to develop their ideas.
All partners must be conducting industrial research and/ or experimental development in one of the six national research priority areas. Applications that complement the government’s priority enterprise policy objectives on digital transformation and on integrating decarbonisation and net zero commitments are particularly welcome.
Join Knowledge Transfer Ireland for valorisation talk
During Valorisation Week listen in to an expert panel discussion, including Knowledge Transfer Ireland, on the new Code of Practice on the management of intellectual assets for knowledge valorisation in the European Research Area and how will it be implemented.
