Unionville High School PTO Newsletter

As Unionville High School welcomed back our students in the fall of 2021, and in a year that continued to be difficult and uncertain, the PTO volunteers still showed up and gave hundreds of hours of their time to help improve our school. Our school volunteers persevered from teacher luncheons and $15,000 in grant money awarded to numerous meetings and emails. Many plans have been made, modified, and changed throughout the last few years. I am amazed at the willingness to pivot and accommodate this new environment to give the kids a memorable high school experience. This is what the PTO is all about.

I am honored to have served alongside these amazing volunteers at UHS and many other wonderful groups for the past four years. THANK YOU to all who have volunteered, you are truly appreciated! It is with a sad heart that, after 20 years of PTO volunteering, I say farewell to UHS.

Thank you—Lynda Nadin, former UHS PTO President

UCFSD Scholarship winners

Scholarship winners are (left to right) Nandhini Parthasarathy, Andy Li, Emma Martin, Kriti Kalary, Arnab Sircar, and Jack Blackadar.

Congratulations to our six seniors awarded the 2022 UCFSD Community Scholarship! The students were selected based on their GPAs, community involvement, and timed essays. The outstanding students received $2,000 each, the most we've awarded in history! This year, over $12,000 was raised for this scholarship. We are grateful to the PTOs and the 74 families who contributed this year. The more funds we raise, the more scholarships we can award! We also thank all those who helped get us here, including the UHS Counseling Office, the District Communications Office, and Mrs. Carolyn Barr.

Attention parents: PTO Volunteers are needed!

We are in desperate need of volunteers! The two most profitable PTO fundraisers—Art Gala and Book Sale—are at risk of cancellation in 2022-2023 due to a lack of volunteer support. Without these fundraisers, the PTO will not be able to fund the many projects for our teachers and students, including after prom. Contact Kristen at Kristenyounguhspto@gmail.com to volunteer today!

For more information, please contact jenhallmomof3@gmail.com or danalmayer@gmail.com.

The Art Gala showcases local professional artists as well as our exceptional UHS student artists and will be held November 11-12, 2022. Most committee positions are filled, but some are still open, including:
