Sascha Blidorf

Climate Activist

Greenland

Sascha is a climate activist from Greenland. She was one of the arrangers of the Friday’s for future demonstration in Nuuk Greenland and has helped to ban plastic from her gymnasium in Nuuk.

Sascha was also a candidate for the election to the parliament in Denmark to spread awareness in Greenland of climate change.

Eva Jones

Climate Activist & Intersectional Feminist

USA

Eva Jones, Arctic Basecamp Youth Delegate, from Oregon, grew up in a US National Scenic Area. It was the degradation of this landscape by glacial melt, salmon decline, and wildfires that led her to take a stand.

In 2019, Eva was chosen as a UNF Protector of Progress for her gender equality fundraising and advocacy efforts.

Eva then represented United Nations Foundations as the youth delegate at the UN Youth Climate Summit. At the World Economic Forum, Eva started her work with Arctic Basecamp as the Youth Tent Coordinator to speak science to power.

She is currently at Stanford University combining her passion for creating and social good to study Earth Systems Engineering and Feminist and Gender Studies.

Cassidy Miligruak Kramer

Climate & Indigenous Rights Activist

USA

Cassidy Miligruak Kramer was raised 30 miles above the Arctic Circle in Kotzebue, which is a hub village on the northwestern coast of Alaska. She’s an Inuk and grew up with a blend of traditional Iñuit and modern practices. Since early childhood, Cassidy has learned to hunt, fish, trap, and gather from land and sea, and shares her catch with families in her community. She is passionate about the continuation of the Iñupiat cultural way of life. Already in her short life as a hunter, she has seen evidence of changes in her environment due to global warming.

Cassidy is currently a student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and plans to become a high school science teacher in Northwest Alaska. She is a Caleb Scholar, a program continuing the legacy of her grandfather, Caleb Pungowiyi, a Siberian Yupik leader known worldwide as an advocate for marine conservation. Cassidy hopes to continue his work of bridging Indigenous knowledge with scientific research. Her roles as an Indigenous youth include teaching our younger generations while advocating for the conservation of her environment and Inuk way of life. Cassidy’s story was highlighted in a BBC documentary as part of their 100 Women series titled “Life on Thin Ice”. She is part of Arctic Basecamp's youth team, was part of a panel for climate change awareness with Arctic Basecamp at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and on a panel for the Science Museum Group’s series Climate Talks, sharing about the changes seen in the Arctic. She also was a member of the Generation Climate Initiative with the New York Times and spoke at the New York Times Climate Hub alongside COP26 on a panel pertaining to Indigenous rights and biodiversity.

Kaime Silvestre

Climate Activist & Human Rights Lawyer

Brazil

Born in the Amazon, Kaime relentlessly advocates for humanitarian action and for protection of the Amazon, its wildlife, and the people who depend on it. He is currently pursuing an advanced master /LL.M. in Public International Law at the Free University of Brussels.

He has served as an advisor to the UN Youth Envoy’s Office in the planning and delivery of the first UN Youth Climate Summit in New York; Member of the The New York-Times Generation Climate and as an Arctic Basecamp Youth Delegate at the World Economic Forum at Davos.

Wenying Zhu

Wenying Zhu

China

Deeply passionate about decarbonization, Wenying obtained her master’s degree in environmental policy at ETH Zurich and is currently a junior analyst at McKinsey’s sustainability practice.

Previous to McKinsey, Wenying was an intern in the Climate Finance Unit at the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in the Geneva office.

Helena Gualinga

Ecuador

Helena Gualinga is an Indigenous youth climate justice and environmental defender who advocates for the protection of the Amazon Rainforest and Indigenous people’s rights. Gualinga is from the Kichwa community of Sarayaku and she is a co-founder of Polluters Out, a WECAN Young Women Project Lead in Ecuador.

John Paul Jose

India

John Paul Jose is a social, environmental and climate justice advocate hailing from an agricultural family in Kerala, India. Living amidst nature, experiencing environmental changes and climate crises have driven him into taking action with experiences in dozens of organisations as a volunteer, ambassador, advisor, consultant, etc. He is also involved in research and policy development. He is working on building advocacy resources and livelihood based restoration.

Ilyess El Kortbi

Ukraine

Ilyess El Kortbi is a Ukrainian Climate Justice Activist of Ukrainian-Moroccan origin from Kharkiv where they joined Fridays For Future in 2019 with lone strikes. They co-founded Fridays For Future Ukraine where they acted as Board Secretary during peacetime and engaged with UNICEF projects for youth. Ilyess fled the war from Kharkiv to Berlin, where they continue their Climate Activism - with messages of Peace and Climate Justice against the reason for wars like in Ukraine.

Sophia Kianni

USA / Iran

Sophia Kianni is an Iranian-American environmentalist studying climate science and public policy at Stanford University. She is the founder and executive director of Climate Cardinals, an international nonprofit with 8,000 volunteers in 40+ countries working to translate climate information into over 100 languages. She represents the U.S as the youngest member on the inaugural United Nations Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change.
