Triangle Classic Recap

On Saturday, February 18th the Mammoths competed at the Triangle Classic, hosted by Springfield College. The Mammoths competed well in our last regular season meet!

Bridget Cassata kicked off the day on an incredibly high note, setting a personal best in the pole vault! Bridget cleared a huge personal best jump of 3.15 meters (10' 4")!

Kelechi Eziri enjoyed a great day in the long jump, placing second with a season best jump of 6.70 meters (21' 11.75")!

In the 60 meter dash, Ben Williams ran a great race, placing 20th in a time of 7.58 seconds, just off his personal best in the event!

The first event on the oval for the day was the men's 3,000 meters, and Daniel Martin and Paolo Canigiula ran great races in the first heat, placing first and second, respectively! Daniel and Paolo worked together in the lead pack in the early laps in the race and Daniel smoothly pulled away from the field, winning the heat in a time of 9:21! Paolo moved up and passed competitors in the second half of the race and placed second in a personal best time of 9:29! Theo Dassin ran in the second heat and ran in a big pack for most of the race, placing eleventh overall in a time of 8:55.

Lev Robertson ran the mile and competed hard, running strong middle laps en route to finishing seventh in a time of 4:38!

All three Mammoths who competed in the women's 60 meter hurdle prelims made the final, as Olivia Steele, Myeh Medina and Bridget Cassata advanced to the final! In the final, Myeh set a big personal best by running a time of 9.61 seconds and placed second in the final after setting a personal best in the prelims! Bridget set a personal best in the final by running a time of 9.77 seconds in the prelim and placed fifth in the final! Olivia Steele placed seventh in the final with a time of 9.93 seconds and had a strong day in the hurdles!

Next in the 400, Caroline Wu ran a strong race, placing fourth in her heat in a time of 1:04. Running a controlled effort in the 400, Ellis Phillips-Galucci closed hard in the final 100 meters, placing fourth overall in a time of 52.79 seconds!

Artis Phillips and Susannah Auderset both competed in the same heat of the 600 and both enjoyed strong races! Artis took the lead from the gun and looked strong the whole way, winning the heat in a season best time of 1:47! Susannah Auderset competed well in her season debut and first 600 race ever, placing second in her heat in a time of 1:48! Charlie Clary competed well in the second heat of the 600, getting out hard and ran a nice time of 1:27 to place ninth overall!

Debra Thayer enjoyed a fantastic day, setting a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 9.46 meters (31' 0.5")! Bethany Martin had a great series of throws in the shot put with her best throw being her first with a throw of 10.34 meters (33' 11.25"), placing eighth! Morgan Rome placed tenth with a throw of 9.61 meters (31' 6.5")! Hugh Lemmon-Kishi thew a season best throw in the shot put with a mark of 12.52 meters (41' 1") to place sixth! Temidayo Bambe also competed well in the shot put, placing fifteenth with a throw of 9.15 meters (30' 0.25")!

In the weight throw, Bethany had her best throw on her last throw, throwing 11.62 meters (38' 1.5") to place eleventh and had a great series of throws in the weight too! Debra continued to have a great day, throwing not far off her personal best in the weight throw with a throw of 10.47 meters (34' 4.25"), placing fifteenth! Jack Renda saved his best for last, throwing 12.59 meters (41' 3.75") on his final throw to place eighth!

Matt Gelin got out hard in the 200 and finished thirteenth overall in a time of 24.63 seconds!

In the 5k, Luke Munch ran well with a large pack of athletes and ran hard the whole race, finishing in third place in a time of 15:46!

Annelise Romero was the last Mammoth to compete and had a clutch performance! Annelise needed a qualifying mark for the D3 New England Championships in the triple jump and on her fifth jump, she jumped a huge season best mark of 10.75 meters (35' 3.25"), qualifying her for the championship meet and placing sixth in a deep field!

We had a lot of fun at the Triangle Classic and enjoyed our last regular season meet! Many thanks to everyone who supported the Mammoths both at the meet and from a far!

NEXT UP for the Mammoths is the Division III New England Championships on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th! The meet will be held at the TRACK at new balance in Boston, Massachusetts.
