Home Courses

The Huskers regularly practice at Firethorn Golf Club. Home to the 2002 Division III Men’s Golf Championship, the Pete Dye designed course was rated 36th among the top 100 modern courses in the country. Firethorn has also hosted the 96th U.S. Women’s Amateur. Firethorn is a target-oriented course with naturally flourishing shrubs and grasses.

Trackman Training Lab

The Trackman Training Lab is located on campus in the Hawks Championships Center right next to Memorial Stadium - where student-athlete support areas like academics, life skills, nutrition, athletic medicine and strength training are located.

The facility allows the golf team to perfect their swings indoors. Trackman technology is utilized by hundreds of tour players and thousands of coaches. It’s one of the best tools for analyzing your swing giving you plenty of data to work from. It not only captures different parameters of data, but it also captures a video of your swing.

Head Coach Jeanne Sutherland

One of the most accomplished coaches in women's college golf, Jeanne Sutherland took the reins of the Nebraska program when she was named the head coach of the Huskers on May 5, 2022.

In her first season as Nebraska's head coach in 2022-23, Sutherland led the Huskers to an NCAA Regional appearance, a top-25 midseason ranking and the best season stroke average in school history.

Sutherland spent the 2021-22 season as Nebraska's associate head coach, helping the Huskers to four first- or second-place finishes during the season.

Sutherland came to Nebraska after spending 10 seasons (2011-2021) as the head coach at SMU. She previously spent 15 seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M (1992-2007). During her first two collegiate head coaching stints, Sutherland led 18 teams to NCAA Regional appearances, including four to NCAA Championship appearances. She is a two-time NCAA regional/district coach of the year and a four-time conference coach of the year.

She has coached three individuals to All-America honors and five individual conference champions during her distinguished head coaching career.

Assistant Coach Matt Zedrick

Matt Zedrick joined Nebraska as an assistant coach on June 1, 2022. Zedrick led the Huskers to an NCAA Regional appearance, a top-25 midseason ranking and the best season stroke average in school history in 2022-23.

From 2015-16 to 2020-21, Zedrick guided the Purdue Fort Wayne women’s golf program to some of the most successful seasons in program history. His Mastodons teams rewrote virtually every school record on the course, including a 2020-21 team scoring average of 311.8.

Purdue Fort Wayne’s top golfers, Holly Anderson and Linnzie Richner, set school records for 18, 36 and 54-hole scoring, while Anderson claimed school records for the best season and career stroke averages. Anderson capped her career as a second-team All-Horizon League selection in 2020-21.

Hall of Famer Sarah Sasse

Nebraska celebrated the induction of Husker great Sarah Sasse into the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015. Sasse was a first-team All-American and the Big 12 Conference Golfer of the Year in 2003.

2021 Big Ten Champion - Kate Smith

Kate Smith shot a scorching 64 (-8) to tie her own record for the best individual round in school history and capture Nebraska's first-ever Big Ten women's golf individual title at the 2021 Big Ten Championship. With Smith leading the charge, the Huskers earned a tie for second in the team standings with No. 19 Maryland and No. 25 Michigan.

Arnold Palmer Cup

In June of 2021, Smith helped Team USA to a 33-27 victory over Team International at the 25th annual Arnold Palmer Cup. Smith went 3-1 in her four matches at the event.

GO BIG Project, Coming Soon

The newest enhancements to the Nebraska student-athlete experience are coming soon with the opening of a new $155 million, 350,000-square foot facility that will feature a new academic center, a new training table and a new student-athlete lobby, among other features.

National-Leading 351 CSC Academic All-Americans

Nebraska Athletics leads NCAA Division I with 351 CSC Academic All-Americans, with Stanford ranking second with 336.

Top Ten Award Winners

Nebraska student-athletes have won more NCAA Top Ten Awards than any other school in the country. Regarded as the nation's most prestigious academic award, Nebraska has had 18 recipients - including Anton Stephenson in 2018. The award honors male and female student-athletes throughout the country based upon the criteria of athletic achievement, academic achievement and community involvement.

95% Graduation Success Rate

Nebraska student-athletes continue to be among the nation’s best in the classroom. The NCAA released its Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in December 2022 and Nebraska posted its highest overall GSR for the 12th straight year.

In addition to the highest all student-athlete GSR in Nebraska history, 13 Husker teams achieved a perfect 100 percent GSR.

Beginning with the 2022-23 academic year, Nebraska rewards Husker scholarship student-athletes for academic performance, success toward graduation and retention by awarding student-athletes who meet established benchmarks $5,980 per year.

Every student-athlete is provided a MacBook Air while they are a student at Nebraska.

Student-Athlete Assistance Fund

Up to $1,400 a year to help with bills, bike, cell phone, furniture, etc.

The Lincoln airport has service from both Delta and United. The Omaha Airport is less than an hour away and includes flights from Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, OneJet, Southwest and United.

The Landing, established in 2005, and the Oasis, established in 2011, serve as fueling points for all athletes before, during, and after training. The Landing is located in North Stadium while the Oasis is housed in the Hendricks Training Complex. Both areas provide a number of different options including chocolate milk, recovery shakes, energy bars, bagels, fruits, nuts, and Gatorade for student athletes.

Service to a Much Larger Community

Regarded as the premier and most comprehensive Life Skills program in college athletics, the Husker program is committed to providing proactive education, resources and support through college and beyond to promote total person development and preparation for life after sports.

The Nebraska Life Skills program offered its sixth service trip in 2023, taking student-athletes to Panama. Student-athletes have also traveled to Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Alaska.

Athletic Medicine

Providing expert care to more than 600 Husker student-athletes, Nebraska features one of the most well-trained and highly skilled athletic medicine staffs in the country.

The Nebraska athletic medicine staff consists of five physicians, 14 full-time athletic trainers, eight graduate assistant athletic trainers, four full-time in-house athletic psychologists, one full-time neuropsychologist and sports psychiatry consultants who work directly with student-athletes.

The future of athletic performance is here. The Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory utilizes a multi-method, multi-disciplinary approach to athlete performance and health through technology and academic expertise. Through collaborative expertise, the Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory strives to bring the best to the student-athletes of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In 2013, a 50,000-square-foot expansion of Nebraska's East Memorial Stadium brought together athletic and academic researchers in Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory (NAPL) under one roof to study human behavior and performance. The partnership is believed to be the nation's only joint, on campus athletic and academic research facility. The collaboration is a testament to Nebraska's commitment to student-athlete's performance, safety, and long-term health and well-being housed within East Memorial Stadium, allowing optimal accessibility for student-athletes, researchers, and coaching staffs.
