Placer County has unveiled a new vision for private development within the Government Center campus in North Auburn - a one-of-a-kind agricultural themed housing neighborhood and regional commercial destination.
The concept includes The Strand - a pedestrian promenade lined with unique businesses along a park with various outdoor activities.
The vision for this area is to entice Placer County’s artisan chefs, wine makers, brewers and local artists to find a space to showcase our agrarian heritage.
Along with retail spaces, the plan calls for mixed-income housing. It envisions an “agri-hood” that incorporates community gardens with an aesthetic consistent with Placer’s agricultural industry.
One goal is to attract higher density homes, where residents can frequent the retail and commercial spaces within walking distance.
The campus concept also includes a public park - or grove - that can be a venue for events and outdoor experiences.
