The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation Appoints Francine Padgett as Controller

Midland, MI - August 29, 2022 - The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation is proud to welcome Francine Padgett to the position of Controller effective September 12, 2022. Padgett will be responsible for all aspects of financial operations. That includes providing budgetary, operational, and programmatic support.

Francine succeeds Tina Hop who will begin her planned retirement after 15 years of exemplary service. Hop established herself as an expert in nonprofit accounting through her work in philanthropy and her business, TMH Consulting. Hop was instrumental in helping The Foundation succeed by implementing controls and modernizing financial systems.

Francine’s demonstrated commitment to service in the nonprofit sector coupled with her financial acumen will assist The Foundation as we address issues of strategic importance in the years ahead."

Padgett brings forty years of experience within the realm of finance, including thirteen years as Chief Financial Officer of MyMichigan Health (formerly MidMichigan Health). Padgett is an inductee of the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame, a recipient of MidMichigan Health's Chairman's Award, and was named Crain's Detroit Business CFO of the Year in 2012.

The Foundation was established by Grace A. Dow in 1936 in memory of her husband, Dr. Herbert H. Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company. The Trust Agreement specifies that the income of the trust is to be used "for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes for the public benefaction of the inhabitants of the said City of Midland and of the people of the State of Michigan."
