For whatever reason, the great "THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!" scene from Boondock Saints was my first thought here. This song--which has nothing to do with Willem Dafoe--is great though. On to the lyrics... "To add to the confusion; We question the conclusion; In choosing the solution; To take our rights away." Isn't that a funny way of putting it? The rest of the song is more direct, predicting (calling for?) a gunfight. But this bit is an intentional understatement. "We question the solution" has me imagining someone meekly saying, "Hey, wait a second..." as their firearm is yanked from their hands and carried away by the Thin Blue Line gang.

This song is all about violence, but not the unjust use of violence, rather the use of ethical defensive violence against those who would wish to take away our means of defense. The verse that really stuck out to me was,“Rebel against authority / We are the majority / Hear the people shouting / Things are gonna change.” But it doesn't even really need to come to that. If only more folks would accept that people don’t need a government in order to live together and solve problems and just ignore them. Imagine the peace that would result if even half the population just simply turned their backs on politicians and their enforcers.

If there is a better anthem for the boogaloo I'm not sure what it is. The song lists a brief list of grievances with the status quo of the government and purports that the solution is a gunfight like you've never saw before. I like the swanky music. Based on the components of the band I would never have expected this either stylistically or content-wise. I'm personally not a fan of the idea of violence being the solution to our civil woes. I find it difficult to imagine a peaceful society can be born out of violence. I think the only true fix is a lot of time and education. But if shooting is your solution, here's a jam to keep you pumped.
