What is Women's History Month?

(This section is sourced from Women's History Month Site)

The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.

About Women's History Month

Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.

Having female leaders in positions of influence to serve as role models is not only critical to the career advancement of women, but stands to generate broader societal impacts on pay equity, changing workplace policies in ways that benefit both men and women, and attracting a more diverse workforce. The Celebration

In honor of women in leadership roles and the support of other women striving to increase the number of women in leadership. It's no secret that women have been overlooked and ignored, but we are solicited for information for someone else to look good.

In 2023, we would think it would be different, but as I stand here today along with many other women, it is a constant fight.

SAVVY Business Magazine - January Issue

The moment that God said to take it further. Melissa has been pushed to go beyond a Special Edition magazine. During the process of creating, recording, & be innovative the journey seems deeper than she thought she could go. There is nothing too great that we can not handle if God said it will happen. Well, this is what has happened and it was the opportunity for women to connect and have real conversations.

We are excited to work on this project and to celebrate some ladies. Of course, this is nowhere near half of the ladies globally that deserve the recognition of their accomplishments. All we ask is that you do the same a support women during Women's History Month (March 2023)

Gender-based discrimination has long kept women and girls subordinate to men in the workplace, in politics and at home. In some countries, such discrimination persists in the law—legally barring women, for example, from certain professions—while in others economic barriers like the gender pay gap prevent women from experiencing full equality. (Unwomen)

The Participants

We reached out to these ladies to have a quick chat about their journey and a message to encourage others. Each one of these "Fireside Chats" will be published during the month of February. Be sure you stay tuned for the release date for each one of these ladies. All "Fireside Chats" will be streamed on our YouTube Channel (click button below to subscribe).
