captain James cook

captain James cook was born 7th of November 1728. he died at the age of 50 14 of February 1779 in Kealakekua bay, kingdom of Hawaii. Captain James cook was a British explore a navigator and captain of the royal navy.captain James cook grew up in Marton, England James cooks dad was a farmer but when James grew older he began to feel like he wanted to discover the sea. when he was 18 he decided to join the merchant navy.

He is the first to record the circumnavigation of New Zealand. James joined the British merchant navy as a teenager .His society told Captain James Cook to go to the Pacific to discover the islands. For a few weeks Captain James Cook was sailing around the pacific in till there was a huge storm out at sea. James cooks ship sailed south and that's when he discovered New Zealand. he went to tom bowling bay to stay in till the storm passed. he sailed south when the storm was over.

he started to draw a map of New Zealand . unfortunately when he got to banks peninsula it was a fogy day so he couldn't see it properly. James cook drew banks peninsula as a island. When he got to the very south of New Zealand he camped in Colac Bay/Oraka. After two days James Cook sailed north on the other side of New Zealand . Once he got half way up the north island he stopped at Kawhia Harbour.
