Amur leopards grows up to 7.5 cm in the in the winter. They are nocturnal animals when they hunt. A Amur leopards can live in harsh weather like extreme winters and summers. But these animals are dieing out quickly. They are critically endangered species. If you want to help this amazing animals live learn about there habitat,predators and prey, why are they endangered and how are we helping.
The Amur leopard use to live in China & the Korean Peninsula. They only live in eastern parts of Russia. They live on the coasts, drainage basin forests, & woodland. They usually go where less snow is. Amur leopards are far eastern animals. They mostly survive on very shaky ground. There is a oil pipeline going right thru there forests. It will destroy there land. They also use to live in Asia. They ONLY live in the Russian forests.
Amur leopards mostly preys on hoofed animals. They mostly prey on roe deer, sika deer, wild boar, manchurian wapiti, musk deer, moose and occasionally bares, badgers, raccoon dogs, fowl and mice. But Amur leopards main predators are humans. Humans hunt them for there skin and bones. Amur leopards skin is priceless. They are usually killed for trophy hunting. That's why many are gone.
These beautiful animals are decreasing very quickly. They are going extinct because of encroaching civilazation, people are building new roads in there habitat, LOTS of trophy hunting, climate change and explotian of there forests. Why people poach Amur leopards are number one for there skin. There skin can be sold for 500-1,000 dollars. Number two is for there bones. There bones are used for traditional Asian medicine. There are only about 30 Amur leopards left in the wild. Do to things like there main food dieing out ( native deer) are decreasing. Between 1970-1983 80% of there habitat was lost because of logging and forest fires.
What are people doing to help these animals we are trying to make poaching Amur leopards illegal. Many endangered animals are do to poaching or trophy hunting. Some other ways people are trying to help are making conservationists for them.
