K2: Who is Yayoi Kusama? - K2 have been learning about the artist ‘Yayoi Kusama’ linking to the Unit ‘How We Express Ourselves’. They have loved creating their own individual paintings inspired by her, using lots of different colours. K2’s painting will be displayed at the ‘Our Journey’ event.
Y2/3: Building bird feeders - We have been busily creating bird feeders and bird houses as part of our Unit of Inquiry about “Sharing The Planet.” We are hoping to encourage birds to come and live in the homes and that they know they have a safe place to come and feed.
Y5/6: Sharing the journey -Year 5/6 have been reflecting on the highlights of our school year where each student chose what was most important to them. These were shared with the UDIS community at our end of year ‘Journey Through the Eyes of a Child’ event.
Y8/9: Crypto entrepreneurs - Students participated in the Roostoo cryptocurrency exchange competition, a simulation based on real-world crypto. Each student received $50,000 to invest and trade over a week. JJ more than doubled his base investment and ended in 8th place globally, making a profit of more than 111%. Thai: Exploring fables - Our PY learners have been enjoying reading and listening to a variety of Thai folk tables, fables and fairy tales. The learners then developed their own creative ideas by making story boxes, big books, pop-up books, storyboards and mind mapping.
