SCIENCE WEEK
Parkside has been buzzing with excitement and discovery for Science Week. They have been exploring forces such as friction and air resistance, and investigating different ways to send messages to another class. They have been testing their designs and evaluating them. Methods used have included morse code, paper aeroplanes, mirror writing and intricate contraptions. The children have also been planting a variety of seeds and we are looking forward to seeing how they grow. They have also been smashing stereotypes by learning about different scientists such as Maggie Aderin-Pocock.

CELEBRATING THE KING'S CORONATION
On Friday 5th May, the day before the coronation of King Charles III, we will be marking the occasion in school. The children are invited to come to school dressed in red, white or blue, or a combination of the three.
We will also as a school be undertaking art activities and need your help - please could you donate any plastic that we could use, for example plastic bags, plastic bottle tops. We are hoping to do a recycled art activity in recognition of King Charles III dedication to climate change. Each year group will also be making a time capsule for someone in the future to discover and learn about what life was like at the time of the coronation.

MY PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
This week we have launched our 'My Personal Achievements' booklets. It is a way for the children to collect their rewards in all the different areas of school life in one place. We also want them to become responsible for their own achievements and encourage them to celebrate and be proud of what they accomplish. On completing the different milestones the children will be able to choose their rewards from the shop which will be run by members of our School Council.
