CATALINA CUTIES PRESS REWIND By grace Montgomery

The Catalina Cuties pressed rewind and put on a synchronized swimming show on Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5. In total, they had four shows.

Presidents Clare Duplissis and Colin Kelly as well as officers Ameila Segroves, Chase Layman, Julia Kapala, Sam Timmer, Veda Vargas and Zander White, choreographed various dances to throwback hits. Officers split the club into different groups and each performed a dance to a song.

"The show was absolutely perfect," Duplissis said. "Every single thing worked out exactly the way we had hoped. Looking back the only thing I would change about the weekend was the speed. It went by way too fast and I wish we could do it all again."

2023 OFFICERS:

After the 7:30 show, the 2022 officers held an awards ceremony. They announced program awards as well as the 2023 officers juniors Ava Preditius, Evan Kasbohm, Hadassah Traub, Marin Stork, MacKinley Tubergen and Ryne VanAndel.

To close the ceremony, they crowned the next presidents, juniors Megan Voorhees and Gabe Hamm.

“I was really surprised and shocked,” Voorhees said. “I think I left my body for a little bit and didn’t realize it was happening until everyone started looking at me.”

Voorhees and Hamm enjoyed participating in the show and look forward to leading the performance next year.

“We hope to make next year's show one of the best shows there has ever been,” Voorhees said. “We want to grow the program because some of the grades are short on people.”
