UT Dallas in Paris 2022 French SOciety: sociological perspectives - July 10-aug. 8

Join Dr. Richard Scotch, program head for sociology, and Dr. Carol Cirulli Lanham for a one-month faculty led program in Paris, France. They will be offering two UT Dallas courses: Contemporary Social Issues and Field Research Methods at St. John University's campus in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. You will be attending classes in the heart of Paris from Monday to Wednesday, and then joining your professors and the French-speaking graduate teaching assistant Gaetan Dore for academic field trips on Thursdays. That will leave long weekends free for travel to other places in France and beyond. APPLY NOW

The three-credit-hour course SOC 2320 - Contemporary Social Issues (Paris) will examine problems related to immigration, crime and social control, the rise of the far right, work and the economy, youth and aging, and urban life. Students also will explore areas where the French are known to excel such as health care, the environment, and education. In SOC 3381 - Field Research Methods, classroom instruction will be combined with supervised field research on many of the same topics.

St. John's University campus is located in the 6th Arrondissement, across the street from the Vaneau Metro stop. You will have a double room with sink and personal storage space, with access to a shared baths, kitchenette and laundry facilities. Your program fee also includes breakfast and lunch on classroom days and breakfast on field trip days in the residence dining hall.
