YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL
Year 6 had a fantastic visit to Dearne Valley Kingswood last week for their residential trip. They were able to try a variety of amazing activities including buggy building, wall climbing, abseiling, archery, orienteering and zip wires, not to mention having the valuable experience of staying away from home without family. A huge thank you to all of the staff who went with them and enabled the children to make these long-lasting memories.
Below is just a small selection of photos. You can find lots more on Twitter here https://twitter.com/ParksideGoole

WATER BOTTLES
Please can we remind you all to ensure that your child bring a filled water bottle to school (water only, no juice please). It is really important in this warmer weather that children stay hydrated. They will be encouraged to refill their bottles throughout the day.

PRELOVED NEXT WEEK
Our last preloved event of the school year will be on Monday 26th June after school in the West studio. Come along and have a look to see if there is any uniform, clothing, books, toys or games that you would like to take home for free. You do not have to have donated an item to take something away.

ROAD SAFETY
Please can we remind families of the importance of crossing the road safely. We are concerned that some children have been seen crossing the road on their bikes. Please use the zebra crossing, ensuring that you dismount your bike and wheel it across. The speed at which they are travelling is also a cause for concern, please remember that bike helmets could prevent a serious head injury if your child fell off.
Please click the link below for guidance on making safe and healthy journeys with children.

STAFF CAR PARK
Please can we ask that parents and children do not cut across the staff car park and inbetween the cars. Please use the footpaths. This is for everyone's safety and to avoid any accidents.

WHEN IS TOO ILL FOR SCHOOL?
It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell. However, there are Public Health and Government Guidelines for schools and parents/carers that state when children should be kept off school and when they can still attend.
Is my child too ill for school? - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
Should I keep my child off school checklist poster (publishing.service.gov.uk)
If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone the school on the first day of illness to let us know that they will not be attending, together with the reason for their non-attendance. As per our Parkside Primary School attendance policy, it is requested that if your child is absent from school for 10 sessions (5 days) through illness or for all pupils whose attendance is below 92% then medical evidence is required to avoid the absence being marked as unauthorised and incurring a fine.
If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, please let their teacher know.
ERYC Public Health, who have access to school attendance data, monitor and analyse absences recorded by schools particularly for those pupils with 3 or more absences within a school year to ascertain if the absences are genuine or an indication of other unknown reasons for concern.
Please help your child reach their maximum potential by ensuring they are at school on time every day.
If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Miss Curley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
