What is sketchnoting?
- Dual coding theory is a general theory of cognition and mind.
- Originated in the 1960’s
- Explains the powerful effects that mental imagery has on memory.
- The image acts as a zip file for multiple ideas
- This zip file helps to fit more into your limited short term memory
- Helps to organize knowledge in a way that make sense to you
- Robert Marzano’s research shows that nonlinguistic representations have a significant positive affect on student achievement
- Stimulates the brain
- High level thinking is required to create sketchnotes
- Releases creativity
