Artist Statement
My work is about meddling with the thin fabric of reality and opening up a narrative into the realms of dreams and supernatural fantasy. This unknown so easily creates fear and confusion and I’m fascinated with how our imagination naturally finds a way to fill in the gaps. My work with prints, collage and assemblage allows for the chance meeting of multiple distant realities on an unfamiliar plane, exploring themes of isolation and derealization. The disjointed condition of the remote figures, objects and forms in my work takes us to an alternative universe, yet one that is uncomfortably close to our own. My goal is to transform the familiar into the strange and fantastic, retreat from logic and reason and find ourselves transported into the otherworldly and ominous.
