Dear Parents/Caregivers

It is fantastic to welcome both staff and students back into school for the start of term one 2022.

School is all about connections and teaching is a social interaction. Both staff and the students have done a fantastic job over the last two years, following the health and safety guidelines we have in place to keep everyone safe. Thank you for preparing your children so well for their return to school on Tuesday. We can't wait to see the children's eyes light up when they come together with friends they have not seen for a very long time. All children can attend school now.

New COVID-19 Protection (Traffic Light) Framework

As you know everyone in Aotearoa has moved to the new COVID-19 Traffic Light Framework and we are currently at Red.

From Tuesday 1st February 2022, I can confirm that all students need to be back onsite. This is fantastic news and means we can plan for a great 2022.

As all students are required to attend school under the current traffic light framework, we will not provide home learning online or paper packs. Our team at Chapel Downs is ready to welcome all students back to the classroom.

Health measures in place at Chapel Downs

Health, safety and wellbeing continue to be a priority for us and the same public health measures you are very familiar with will remain in place:

  • good hygiene and cleaning
  • contact tracing systems in place
  • vaccination requirements for our staff
  • if you are sick, you must stay home and get tested
  • good ventilation

While we are at Red :

  • masks will be required at school when indoors for students in Years 4 – 6. Please use surgical masks like the one in the picture below.
  • We ask that only essential visitors come onsite and check in at the school office
  • Y2-Y6 children are to enter the school independently and go straight to their class
  • Y1 (A1-A7) children can be accompanied by parents for drop off and pick up only
  • Any queries, please come to the school office wearing your mask and scan in

School Lunches

Our free school lunch programme starts again on day one (1st Feb 2022).

Just send your children to school with a snack for morning tea and a drink bottle full of water. The team from Eat My Lunch will provide lunch for each student daily.

Property Improvements

Our school continues to grow rapidly and over the holidays contractors were certainly hard at work. Our two new classrooms (B29/B30) are ready to go, a new concrete court outside A13/A14 has been installed, the library has been refurbished and new decks and ramps have been built.
