Yuba Water Agency's power settlements analyst, Andi Richmond, is responsible for analyzing the agency's hydroelectric power generation contracts and sales to the California Independent System Operator, which is the agency that manages most of the state's energy grid. Her work also includes validating data to ensure that any issues or discrepancies in payments are addressed. Scroll to learn more about Andi.

What does your average day look like? Or what are some of your essential duties?

My average day is spent analyzing different data and preparing reports as necessary. I use a few different types of software to look at trends over time and make sure we are getting the most revenue out of our hydroelectric power generation sales. I also prepare reports for the different contracts we are involved in and verify revenue data.

Do your duties differ throughout the year? And if so, how?

Most of my duties remain the same throughout the year, but there are certain things I do at different times of the year. I have a variety of reports I have to file with different entities on a quarterly or yearly basis, so right after a quarter ends I have additional work that has to be done.

How did you get involved in your current career path?

I graduated from Sacramento State with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 2020 and also attended Yuba College, where I earned associate degrees in natural sciences and mathematics. During the summer of 2019, I interned at Yuba Water Agency and was fortunate enough to begin a full-time position in June 2020 after I graduated from college. I originally heard about the internship from Director Brent Hastey, who I had worked for after graduating from Yuba College in 2017.

What do you enjoy most about working for Yuba Water?

I’m pretty sure every other featured employee has said this, but the people make Yuba Water Agency the best place to work. We have a great team that is so enthusiastic and always ready to help.

Tell us something about yourself that most of us don't know.

I have a twin sister. She is two minutes younger than I am, and we have been practically inseparable.

What's the most recent app you downloaded on your phone?

I just got a new, smart thermostat, so I downloaded the Ecobee app to set everything up and be able to run the thermostat remotely.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending a lot of time with my friends and family. My friends and I have a weekly game night that we've been doing since 2017. I’m usually with my parents at least one night a week or during the weekend doing projects around their house and hanging out.
