University of Alabama Homecoming 2016 Crimson Tide Photos

The University of Alabama kicked off homecoming weekend with a Friday Night pep rally and bonfire on the Quad. The voice of the Crimson Tide, Eli Gold, emceed the event as hundreds of fans gathered near the steps of Gorgas Library to hear Coach Nick Saban and several of his players speak. Special guests also addressed the Tide faithful including baseball coach Greg Goff, basketball coach Avery Johnson and former Alabama running back and Homecoming Parade Grand Marshall, Siran Stacy.

Following the pep rally, fans then moved across the Quad for the annual lighting of the bonfire.

Alabama's Homecoming Parade started in downtown Tuscaloosa working its way from Greensboro Ave. to University Blvd. The Million Dollar Band led the way followed by sorority floats, dance teams, beauty queens and many other participants.

Each year WVUA's Lynn Brooks along with the First Lady of Alabama Football, Terry Saban, offer color commentary during a live broadcast of the Homecoming Parade. This is the 9th year the duo have hosted the show.

Senior Ainsley LeBlanc, a PR major from Cordova, Tennessee, was crowned as Alabama's 2016 Homecoming Queen during halftime.

Alabama fans filled the stadium prior to kick off as the Million Dollar Band took to the field to perform. Members of the undefeated 1966 team were recognized including former player and coach Ray Perkins and Richard Cole, who were both honorary team captains for the game. Several current NFL players also returned for the weekend including Reggie Ragland, Kenyan Drake and Marcell Dareus.

Alabama celebrated homecoming on Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd of 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium on the Alabama campus.

The Crimson Tide defense produced another dominant performance to lead top-ranked Alabama to a 34-6 Homecoming victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. The Tide gained 488 yards (315 passing and 173 rushing), picked up 25 first downs, and averaged 6.5 yards per play. As a unit, the Tide defense had four quarterback sacks, nine tackles for loss, forced three fumbles and was credited with six quarterback hurries.

Sophomore wide receiver Calvin Ridley had a career-best performance with 11 catches for 174 yards and two scores.

Linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton recorded a team-best eight total tackles, including four solos.

The Crimson Tide celebrated their victory over the Wildcats as they advanced to 5-0, and 2-0 in the SEC Conference.

Alabama's season continues next Saturday, October 8, as the Crimson Tide is slated to visit the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-1 overall; 0-1 in the SEC) at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on the Arkansas campus. The game will be televised by ESPN with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time (CT).
