It’s always a fantastic time at the track when it’s a Club Spring Mountain race weekend! The beautiful weather combined with our great group of racers, family, friends and staff made a fun and exciting experience for all. The Andretti (C) 4-mile configuration was the road course of choice. Its combination of long straights with fast, tight corners made for exciting multi-class racing. It was also wonderful to see George Kurtz, Gerhardt Watzinger and John Falb back at the track for some fun club racing after spending time away participating in other racing series – Welcome Back!

Friday and Saturday, competitors from the LSR1 and LSR2 classes battled each other for overall position. Spectacular spins at the exit of the Bowl by Bruce Jones and Patrick Liddy demonstrated the efforts all drivers were making.

On Saturday, Jones was the star of qualifying. His lap of 2:32.484 was over 1.1 seconds faster than the closest competitor in the higher LSR1 class! His lap was the best of the weekend.

The Miata racers once again showed how to race close and clean. While Teddy Landau walked away from the group in his MX5, the other Miata racers battled for every position. The Bowl and Turn 7 proved to be choice locations to attempt passes.

The Lotus group participated in a traditional race this weekend. On Friday, Jack Fried came out on top and Mark Saroyan took a close second. However, the tables had turned for Saturday’s race: Saroyan took first with Fried securing second.
