Update on Caltrain's Bayshore Station Overpass Rehabilitation Project

The construction work on the Bayshore Station's overpass, stairs, and elevator is almost complete, with Caltrain expecting to fully reopen the pedestrian overpass on Monday, August 7th. The shuttle service that had been aligned with train service will be discontinued, and passengers will be able to continue to board trains on the three most northern cars from both platforms. This is one step closer to the project's completion, with the project anticipated to be finalized by the end of the year.

C/CAG Local Roadway Safety Plan Virtual Kick-Off Meeting

A friendly reminder that C/CAG is developing a Countywide Local Roadway Safety Plan (LSRP) to improve motorist, bicyclist, and pedestrian safety on local streets and roads throughout San Mateo County. Every year, people are killed or seriously injured due to speeding, running red lights, and other factors that put other motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians at risk. Development of a LRSP will help San Mateo County get funding to build roadway improvements that will positively impact everyone residing in and traveling through San Mateo County, especially the most vulnerable communities. Visit the project webpage for upcoming public meetings, pop-up events, and other ways to get involved with the development of the Countywide LSRP, starting with a virtual kick-off meeting next Thursday via Zoom:

Welcome, Marla Chapman & Jerome Strain to the City of Stars!

This past Monday, two new faces could be seen at City Hall and at the Brisbane Marina. Marla Chapman started as the City's new Building Permit Technician, and Jerome Strain started as a Marina Maintenance team member. Please welcome them when you see them around town!

Fun fact about Marla: she's an avid soccer fan, having grown up playing soccer, even throughout college. Their family has even attended the last two World Cups! As for Jerome, and shared in the Brisbane Marina's August '23 Newsletter, he started off in boats as a young skipper in the Sea Scouts and continued his love of boats and repairing them while being a live aboard for a couple years and having worked at SF BoatWorks and Drake Marine Services. Welcome again to the both of you!

If you or someone you know is looking for a new career opportunity, we've got several open positions right now, including Senior Human Resources Analyst and Recreation Leader - Preschool.

Congratulations to Brisbane Resident and Educator, Jessica Tiatia

This past week, we learned that the San Mateo County Office of Education had selected Jessica Tiatia as one of the Office of Education's Changemakers! SMCOE Changemakers use their passion and knowledge to bring environmental justice and sustainability into their schools. And she's done so by partnering with Ariel and Carly of San Bruno Mountain Watch and Mission Blue Nursery. Together, they've developed a native plant garden at Westmoor HS, and have motivated the student body to tend to it! Kudos to you, Jessica!

Jessica noted that all of the plants they have planted in Westmoor's native plant garden are from San Bruno Mountain Watch and Mission Blue Nursery.

The City’s Oral History Project Continues with Don Delbon

Yesterday, Mr. Don Delbon joined local filmmaker Keith Moreau at City Hall for a recording session as part of the City’s Oral History Project. Keith has recorded now nearly 15 current and past Brisbane residents since 2019, who all have stories to share of growing up, or remembrances from their days in Brisbane. We can’t wait to see what Keith does with these recordings, which have now amounted to hundreds of hours of footage! For now, enjoy this short film of Keith’s which debuted at the 2019 Artists’ Evening of Sharing:
