Tip tap. There was a small change one morning...
A: “What do you think is in there H?”
H: “Well I’ve changed my mind I think it’s a dinosaur”
A: “Well if it’s a dinosaur then it must be a raptor because that’s the only one that’s not extinct”
H: “ Well, did you know there’s something more scary than a T-Rex and that’s a Spinosaurus"
They were so cheeky!
When the chicks got bigger they were able to run super fast, one day Mrs Travis could not catch the chicks in the classroom, everybody thought this was incredibly hilarious.
We read the story Chicken Licken together. We tried to warn Chicken Licken not to follow Foxy loxy into his den!

Having this experience helped the children to learn all about the life-cycle of a caterpillar, they enjoyed retelling the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.
This story inspired us to create our own stories.
Nursery children have enjoyed learning rhymes and poems about the life cycle of a caterpillar.
The N2 children have continued to develop their mark making by adding details to their pictures, and using their phonic knowledge to represent words.
In maths the children have been counting out amounts to 5 and counting beyond 10 objects using 1:1 correspondence. They have continued to deepen their understanding of the composition of numbers up to 5 and spotting and correcting simple repeating patterns.
Lorna Lamb and Honey Bunny have now visited all children in N2. They have had wonderful fun and look forward to a happy retirement in the nursery classroom for the rest of the year. Thank you to all N2 families for taking such great care of our nursery bears they have thoroughly enjoyed their year.
Our theme for learning next half term will be 'At the seaside'.

Maths
In Maths next half term we will be:
- Continue to explore number bonds to 5, using objects, Numicon and showing 5 fingers in different ways.
- Beginning to explore number problems up to 5 including sharing / explaining who has more / less.
- Ordering numbers and amounts.
- Describing the position of objects.
- Making marks to represent numerals.
Literacy
In Literacy next half term we will:
- Continue to share a range of books together and engage in conversations around the characters and story plot.
- Identify key parts on a book (Author, title, pictures, words, blurb)
- Be able to understand and answer 'why' and 'how' questions.
- Use our wealth of story language to help create our own basic stories.
- N2 children will continue to use their phonic knowledge to write initial sounds to represent meaning.
Phonics
In phonics the N2 children will:
- Continue to recap phonemes and graphemes previously taught.
- Recap hearing and saying the initial sounds of objects.
- Continue to develop the skill of oral blending and segmenting.
- Listen to and copy simple patterns of movement to music.
N1 children will:
Continue to sing familiar nursery rhymes with actions.
The whole school subject driver next half term is Music.
In music we will be:
- Listening with increased attention to sounds.
- Listen to sounds / music and express how it made us feel.
- Continue to remember and sing a wide range of songs.
- Create our own songs based around one that we already know.
- Playing instruments with increasing control to express feelings and ideas.
At the end of this Summer term it will be time for our oldest children to spread their wings and prepare for full time school. What an exciting adventure this will be.
