Franco Bulaon When I was an actor

I graduated with a B.A. in Theatre from Bard College. In college, I learned that acting was my passion. Through the years I was involved in many stage productions.

I was full of dreams and had big aspirations

To me, real actors made it in New York City

My eyes were set on Broadway

But the only shows I ever did in NYC were off-off Broadway shows...

In small theaters where I had to put on my own shows.

It was tough but I kept plugging away.

And started to land bit parts here and there

I took every acting job I could get and was a proud member of the

And also working with the late great Robin Williams

And again as a tough guy in a train.

However, I started to get frustrated with only being considered for the same type of roles.

I was always cast for the same things

Whether it was in the military,

Or being a fireman,

Or a construction worker.

I was getting fed up with being stereotyped.

And getting tired of the grind

Just another stereotype
At times I felt trapped...
My dreams felt uncertain...

I loved New York but I knew it was time to move on.

I moved to Boston with my wife and started working in the admissions office at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)...

And found a new passion in education.

I'm currently working in Admissions at the University of Washington Bothell while pursuing a Masters in Education.

I still feel like I'm living my dream. It's a just a different dream than I originally expected.
