OCAD University is excited to be offering this collaborative course with Joshibi University of Art and Design in Toronto’s sister city of Sagamihara, part of the Greater Tokyo Area. Joshibi University was the first fine art institution in Japan for women, and the oldest private art school in the country.

With students at Joshibi University of Art and Design this course, led by Associate Professors Nicole Collins (OCAD U) and Linda Dennis (Joshibi U) will deepen student’s capacity to collaboratively address issues of Eco-feminism. Through responsive artwork in relation to the environmental crisis students will exchange digital material from their respective homes. Discussions work to build understanding of connection, materiality and their personal positionality to place. Lectures and demonstrations will introduce students across both Universities to current global feminist art practices, sustainable material explorations and the role of “touch” as a connective action. Student-driven research and experimentation with artmaking created from a home studio environment will be organized into an online exhibition.
この授業は、ニコル・コリンズ准教授（OCAD大学）とリンダ・デニス准教授（女子美術大学）が担当し、女子美術大学の学生とともに、エコ・フェミニズムの問題に共同で取り組んでいく力を高めるためのものです。環境危機に関連したアート作品の制作を通して、学生はそれぞれの家にある素材をオンライン上で交換します。ディスカッションでは、つながり、物質性、場所に対する個人的な立場について理解を深めます。講義とデモンストレーションでは、両大学の学生に、現在のグローバルなフェミニスト・アートの実践、持続可能な素材の探求、そしてつながりのアクションとしての「touch」の役割を紹介します。また、学生が主体となっておこなう研究と実験、そして自宅をスタジオとしておこなうアート制作は、ゲストアーティストでドローイング＆ペインティング学科長のアイリーン・ソバ氏のコーディネートにより、オンライン展示会としてまとめられる予定です。
