Headteacher Comment

What a fabulous term! We have very much enjoyed having families back on site and from next term we are extending this to include Flipping Greenfields every Friday. We do try our very best to ensure that your child's learning is well-supported online throughout the school, so in anticipation of Flipping Greenfields starting again, please do check your child's log-in details work. For more information about Flipping Greenfields and our other online learning opportunities, please do have a look in our 'Greenfields Way for Families' (link at the end of the newsletter).

As usual, the whole Greenfields community has really embraced the celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and the whole site looks magnificent. Everyone sends their congratulations and grateful thanks to Her Majesty for her life and service to our country and the Commonwealth.

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the half term ahead - we will see you again on Monday 6th June.

Mrs Appleby

The Jubilee Edition!

To celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, Greenfields asked the children and staff to dress as royalty, either current or historic world wide royalty or fictional royalty. The staff and children did not disappoint. The whole school enjoyed ending the term with a royal tea party and enjoyed some yummy treats.

Please see some lovely staff members dressed as their favourite royals and click on the button below to view the whole album of photos that was too vast to add onto the newsletter.

Drawing and Cookies

The children in Terrific Tigers were learning how to closely observe and draw what they see. This helps in science as they are sketching different trees and flowers!

To practice developing this skill The class did the ‘cookie challenge’. This is where the children draw what their cookie looks like, then they placed it back on a plate and had to use their drawing to pick out which was theirs! The children concentrated well and even resisted eating the cookies... later they may have got a little snack!

Terrific Tigers

High Five Netball

On Wednesday a group of Year Five and Six pupils competed in a High Five Netball tournament, competing against 12 other schools. Greenfields although not triumphant made it to the semi finals, were they ended up placing 4th! Every player played very well and did themselves and the school proud.

Book and Biscuit

Don't forget that you can join your child for Book and Biscuit every Thursday morning from 8:40am like the Marvellous Meerkats parents this week!

Home School Agreement

As we become more used to our online way of working, we thought it was important to add to our home/school agreement (that you signed when your child started at Greenfields) to include online learning. Please follow the link below to complete this short addition relating to online learning with Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.

Class Code and Google Link

These have been updated for the classes in 2021-22, so click on the link for the class you will be in in September.

Teachers are looking forward to posting their ‘Flipping Greenfields’ videos every Friday next term in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
