We were saddened to hear about the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II on 8th September 2022. We will be spending some time next week celebrating the life of the Queen.
Welcome back to the new academic year! Hope you all had an amazing summer.
We have already started this year as we mean to continue. The children have settled back into school routines well and the benefits of transition in the Summer term are clear to see.
We started the week in assembly by trying to find our 'Roar' by reading the lion inside. We talked about how we all have strengths, no matter if we are in Nursery or Year 6 and everything in between. We all have a 'Roar' and a 'Squeak' inside of us and this year we are going to grown in confidence in all that we do.
School life
This week saw Richard O'Neill come into school. Richard is going to be our 'Author in Residence' this year. Richard O'Neill is a sixth generation master storyteller and author from the Romany tradition. His all original stories, books and plays are Inclusive, inspiring, funny, traditional and contemporary, with strong themes of inclusion, identity, community and ecology. He will be working with the children and staff this year to create stories, create things and create some magical Storytime moments.
Year 6 went to London on a 2 day trip and were able to show their respect for the Queen. Although it was bot the original 2 days planned, the children will look back in a few years time and be able to say 'I was there'. They were impeccably behaved and had an amazing time.
OPAL
We are looking for pallets, as many as we can get. If you have any, or know of anyone who might be able to drop them off at school, we will be collecting them from Monday. Thank you for your support.
online platforms
In school we have several platforms for several functions. In Nursery and Reception, we use Tapestry to share to wonderful learning that takes place with images.
For the whole school, we use Class Dojo. This is part of our positive behaviour approach. This is used for points and going 'over and above'.
Teams is currently used as the online learning platform across school, where children can work collaboratively, save and share their work and where staff can set work and quizzes.
Communication - ParentMail is how we will communicate with parents. This will be the only source of communication, other than a phone call. This will ensure that you know where all information will be sent from. If you need to contact a member of staff, please contact the school office on 01287 635540 or email office@galleyhillprimary.co.uk and the member of staff will be able to contact you as soon as practically possible (eg when not with children/teaching).
