Conrad Bi-Weekly Memo April 8th, 2022

Principal's Message

PSAT

The following College Board assessments will be administered to our students during the school day. Please make sure your child has his/her/their chromebook charged and ready for testing.

April 13, 2022 - PSAT- 9th and10th grade students

To provide the logistics necessary to ensure a positive testing environment, some students will have asynchronous learning opportunities at home during these testing dates.

April 13th- ALL 11TH AND 12TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL LEARN REMOTELY (ASYNCHRONOUS)

Please encourage your children to do their very best on these assessments as the results will give the school important data about college readiness and students and parents information about strengths, areas to grow, and potential college options.

Delaware Goes To College Academy

As you may be aware, The Delaware Department of Education and TeenSHARP have organized our Annual Delaware Goes to College Academy Bootcamp to help students understand how to access colleges affordably. It is a multi-day virtual bootcamp-style program for students in grades 9th through 11th across the state of Delaware. During this virtual program students are guided to assess their college readiness and develop strategies to dramatically increase the competitiveness of their applicant profile. The DGCA program is essential to helping students understand what they can do now in high school to prepare for colleges that offer excellent institutional aid.

Our 2022 Virtual DGCA Bootcamp will run in the morning/afternoon with some evenings from Monday, April 18th, 2022- Friday, April 22nd, 2022. We have some amazing speakers, workshops and colleges visiting the Bootcamp. It will be a life changing experience for students. For more information on workshops and the program of events take a look here: www.delawarestudentsuccess.org/dgca

I know you have received messages about this from the Delaware Department of Education. But I want to personally ask you, if you have not done so already, could you please heavily publicize DGCA to all of your 9th-11th grader students and their parents. The Bootcamp works for all students, yet can be especially beneficial to first generation & low income students as well as students of color.

Students can register for this year's Bootcamp by clicking here:- Delaware Goes to College Academy Bootcamp Registration 2022

If you have any additional questions about the bootcamp, please email anthony.phillips@teensharp.org or call 215-779-2537. Thank you so much for pushing students towards excellence.

Spring Sport Records

Baseball 5-0

The baseball team has come out the gates on fire on both offense and pitching/defense. The team has a stretch of games here that will be a great barometer for them.

Golf 5-0

The Golf Team recently defeated Wilmington Friends at the exclusive Bidermann Golf Course. Pictured above is Ryan Wolf, senior.

Boy's Lacrosse 2-2

Boys' LAX didn't get a game in right away, but they are making up for lost time, putting two wins on the board. A huge thank you to the Conrad Alumni Group for sponsoring the purchase of the new helmets that look really nice!

Girls Lacrosse 1-1

Kayla Dillon had a MONSTER day against Newark, scoring 13 goals. The total put her in the NFHS Ranking for goals scored in a single game. She is currently tied for 8th on that national list.

Girl's Soccer 2-3

Soccer has two wins on the season, beating Red Lion and MOT. They have some competitive games coming up prior to Spring Break, so expect them to put a few more Ws in the record.

Softball 4-2

Softball is off to a great season, with some dominate pitching performances from McKee and Jacobs, who combined for a Perfect Game against Newark this week.

Boy's Tennis 1-2

Boys Tennis swept AI this week 5-0. They have three away matches prior to Spring Break! Consider checking out the schedule and catching a match!

Girl's Tennis 2-2

Girls Tennis also swept AI this week, but unlike the boys, the girls will be home for three matches prior to Spring Break.

Track & Field

Track & Field continues to show well at any and all meets/invitationals they attend. At the AI Invitational, both the Boys and Girls Medley Relays set School Records. All of the runners continue to push themselves and score personal bests.

Boy's Volleyball 2-2

Boys Volleyball has defeated Smyrna and MOT in the early part of the season. The team has four matchups prior to Spring Break
